Day 1 Luang Prabang Mountain Biking tour to the Zen Nam Khan Resort (L)

Enjoy an informative biking tour in the morning leading you out of the small town of Luang Prabang. The first stop we have at Wat Pa Phon Phao, a forest temple famous for the teachings of Ajahn Saisamut. When he died in 1992, his funeral was the largest that Laos had seen in decades.

After another kilometer we will arrive in Ban Panom weaving village. This village, populated by Thai Lue (a tribe with its origins in Southern China ), is well known for cotton and silk hand-weaving. Here we have the opportunity to check out how to make the traditional Lao Cotton on a weaving loom.

The dirt road will bring us through teakwood plantations and wind up the Nam Khan valley. We pass the tomb of Henri Mouhot, the French explorer who showed Angkor Wat to the world. Henri Mouhot perished of malaria in 1861, and the French erected a tomb over his grave six years later.

After a lunch break in the wonderful Elephant Village with a breathtaking view to a 600 m high towering rock face, we get an introduction with your Elephant. Enjoy your Elephant ride (1 hour) through green nature. A boat ride will bring you to the cascades of the Tad Sae waterfall, you may take a refreshing bath. Then drop of to Zen Nam Kan

The Zen Nam Khan Resort is located about 15 km from Luang Prabang along the Nam Khan river. This unspoiled natural valley is one of the most beautiful places in the area. Until recently, wild elephants and tigers roamed this valley. Here is the place to hang out and relax. Total biking time: max. 2,5 hrs. (can be more on request)

Day 2 Hiking and Kayaking in "Fair Trek" area (B,L)

On your short 3-4 hr. Trek you will learn about the small Khamu community living in front of a huge mountain range. You walk along the soft swinging slopes and get an introduction in every day life of these people. Take your time to wander around in the village and meet the locals where you can stop and ask your questions.

Lunch will be served along the way preferably in the village with local food or a lunch box prepared for you.

Your guide will give you a short briefing about the kayaking tour and will teach you how to paddle if it is your first time. A relaxing river journey follows and brings you back to Luang Prabang. Kayaking around 4 hours depending on the season and your paddle strokes...
